Creating Forms

Formal message form templates for different operating situations may be saved in the Forms subdirectory. The templates can be created with any text editor, such as Wordpad. Form templates should be saved as text-only files with an extension of .frm The template to be used in any given situation can then be selected on the Operating Preferences screen.

Templates are usually constructed with fields that are to be filled-in by users. Users can move between fields using the mouse or the tab key. If the tab key is to be used then an equal sign (=) must be used to mark the beginning of each field as illustrated here.

FNpack can automatically insert message number, callsign, time, and date, information into forms. When creating forms, indicate where this information should be inserted by putting <M>, <C>,<T>, and <D> tags on the templates as illustrated here. This information will be inserted as formal messages are being composed if the Autofill box is checked on the Operating Preferences screen.
