Getting Started

The help topics at the left give detailed information about various aspects of FNpack operation. The following is a quick setup guide.

1. A TNC should be connected to a serial port and powered before starting FNpack.

2. When the FNpack program is started it should be possible to interact with the TNC using the computer keyboard. If interaction is not possible, or is garbled, use the Setup/TNC Parameters menu item to open the TNC Parameters screen.

Use the options on this screen to set the FNpack parameters to values that match those of the TNC.   In particular, be sure the baud rate and COM port values are set correctly.

3. The operating callsign should have been set during FNpack installation. If the callsign was not set correctly use the Setup/Operating Preferences menu item to open the Operating Preferences screen. Enter the callsign into the Operating Callsign box.

4. Messages sent to your station will be displayed in the Received Messages panel of the FNpack Main screen.

5. See the 'Originating Messages' help topics at the left for information on how to originate messages.
