Connecting to node resources

When nodes are specified as being in the path to a destination station FNpack automatically establishes connections through the intermediate nodes.

The callsign list entry shown here labeled as 1 specifies that a connection be established to destination AA1KL-1 via nodes WB1BRE-7 and W1KRT-7. To set up this connection FNpack first establishes a connection to node WB1BRE-7 by sending the command c WB1BRE-7. When FNpack receives a response message from WB1BRE-7 indicating that a connection have been successfully made to that node, then FNpack establishes the next link in the connection by sending command c W1KRT-7

When FNpack receives a success response from W1KRT-7 it then establishes the final link in the connection by sending command c AA1KL-1

To setup each link in this connection FNpack has sent a Connect command ( c ) followed by a callsign.

Node Directives

In some cases the final connection point may not be to a station, but rather to a resource at a node. The callsign list entry shown here labeled as 2 is an example of this.

In this case the first link in the path is a connection to node CENTNH. To establish this link FNpack sends the command c CENTNH.   The next link in the connection is to the a resource called BBS that is attached to CENTNH.   FNpack establishes connection to this resource by sending the directive BBS to node CENTNH.   Notice that in this case FNpack sends only the node directive BBS and not a connection command. The asterisk following the directive in the callsign list tells FNpack that the entry should be sent as a directive and not as a connection command.
